An AI quoting agent for trades and field service

Every job you win starts with a quote. I build a bespoke AI agent that drafts your quotes, proposals and tenders from your own job history and price book, inside the systems you already run on. Your team reviews instead of typing. A person signs off every one.

Meet Marshall, who drafts quotes for MSL Fire

MSL Fire is an established fire protection business. Defect quotes, sales quotes, proposals, tenders: skilled work, priced line by line, and there is always another one waiting. So I'm building them an AI teammate who does the drafting. His name is Marshall.

Marshall drafts hundreds of quotes and saves the team hours every day.

74 seconds: meet Marshall, the AI quoting teammate I'm building for MSL Fire.

How an AI quoting agent works

  1. The work lands. A defect report, an enquiry or a tender arrives, the same way it does today.
  2. The agent does the homework. It reads the document, digs out how you quoted similar jobs before, and pulls the right products and labour from your own catalogue at current supplier costs.
  3. A draft appears where your team already works. For MSL that is Uptick, their field service system. The team sign in with the Microsoft 365 accounts they already have.
  4. Your people review, adjust and send. The knowledge in the draft is all yours. The agent just does the legwork of assembling it, in minutes rather than hours.

The rules wired into every agent I build

These matter more than any feature, especially in a regulated trade.

Rule one

Nothing sends itself

The agent is a drafting employee, not a decision maker. Every quote is reviewed, adjusted and signed off by your experienced team before it goes anywhere near a client.

Rule two

It never invents a number

If a cost was not stated anywhere, the agent flags the line rather than guessing. Price book updates from supplier lists are staged for a person to approve before anything changes.

Rule three

Your system stays the record

No new product with another login. The agent works inside the software you already run on, and drafts are built from work you have already delivered to your own standards.

Is this you?

Why an agent, and not more software

You do not need another product with a login. You need the drafting done your way, against your own history, inside your own systems. A bespoke agent is built on Claude and you own it. When your suppliers, products or process change, it changes with them.

That is what staying ahead looks like for a hands-on business: not replacing the expertise that wins the work, but freeing it up to win more of it.

I've spent 20+ years shipping real products, for the likes of the BBC, Butternut Box and Sworkit. That engineering judgement is the difference between AI that dazzles in a demo and an agent your team trusts enough to use every day. More about me, or see everything I build.

AI quoting agent FAQ

Who builds bespoke AI quoting agents for trades businesses in the UK?
I do. I'm Nick Kuh, a UK AI builder based in Brighton. I built Marshall, an AI agent that drafts defect quotes, sales quotes, proposals and tenders for MSL Fire, an established fire protection business. I build the same kind of agent for other UK trades and field service firms: bespoke to how you price work, running inside the systems you already use, and owned by you.
Can AI really write quotes for a trades business?
It can draft them, and that is the part that eats the hours. A good quoting agent reads the enquiry, defect report or tender, finds how you quoted similar work before, pulls the right items from your own price book at current costs, and stages a draft for your team to review. The judgement stays with your people. The typing does not.
Will the AI send quotes to my customers on its own?
No. Nothing an agent I build goes to a client on its own. It is a drafting employee, not a decision maker. Every quote is reviewed, adjusted and signed off by your team before it goes anywhere.
What if the AI makes up a price?
It is built not to. If a cost is not stated anywhere in your catalogue or history, the agent flags the line for a person instead of guessing. It can also help keep your price book in step with your suppliers' latest costs, with every change staged for someone to approve.
Does it work with the software we already use?
Yes, that is the point of building it bespoke. Marshall works inside Uptick, the field service system MSL already runs on, and the team sign in with their existing Microsoft 365 accounts. Your system of record stays your system of record. If your software has an API or an export, an agent can usually work with it.
Is this different from quoting software or a ChatGPT prompt?
Yes. Quoting software gives you another product with a login and its own way of doing things. A chat prompt knows nothing about your history or your prices. A bespoke agent is built around your past quotes, your catalogue and your process, and when your suppliers, products or process change, it changes with them.
What kinds of business is an AI quoting agent right for?
Established firms that win work through quotes, proposals or tenders and have a history of past jobs to learn from: electrical, mechanical and HVAC contractors, plumbing and heating, security and access control, facilities and building maintenance, roofing, groundworks, and specialist subcontractors. If skilled people spend hours every week writing the same shape of document, it is worth a conversation.
How do we get started?
With a free 20-minute intro chat. Tell me how quotes get written in your business today and where the hours go. If an agent is the right answer I will scope it with you. If it is not, I will say so.
